Personal · the apps you live in

Settings & Privacy → Account Privacy → PRIVATE.
Security → Two-Factor → Authenticator app, not SMS.
Security → Login Activity → log out every unknown device.
Messages → Message Requests → off for people you do not follow.
Story → Sharing → Close Friends only. No location tags.
Restrict + Block on the first uncomfortable message. Report first, discuss later.

Account → Two-Step Verification → Enable + set a recovery email.
Privacy → Groups → My Contacts (not Everyone).
Privacy → Last Seen / Profile Photo / About → Contacts only.
Privacy → Read Receipts off (optional but useful).
Any "new number" message from a friend → CALL the old number first.

Digital identity · where the OTPs land

2-Step Verification ON → prefer Authenticator app or a security key.
App Passwords → revoke any you do not recognise.
Third-party access → remove old apps you no longer use.
Devices → sign out every phone or laptop you no longer own.
Recovery email + phone → update to your current number.

Use a password manager. Bitwarden, 1Password, or Google's built-in.
Every account gets a different password. No reuse. Ever.
Check haveibeenpwned.com for your primary email once a month.
Never enter passwords on public Wi-Fi without a VPN. Use 4G/5G instead.
Every URL: HTTPS + correct domain. sbi.co.in ≠ sbi-secure-login.net.

Money + Games · where the loss actually happens

Set a daily transaction limit in the app. Lower than the default.
Turn OFF AutoPay for any mandate you did not knowingly approve.
Remove old VPAs (UPI IDs) you do not use.
Never approve a Collect Request you did not initiate.
Save the app's Report Fraud flow. Practice finding it before you need it.

2-Factor Authentication on Discord, Steam, Riot, PSN, Xbox. All of them.
Never accept "free Robux", "free skins", "free credits". All scams.
Never move a chat off-platform to Discord or a stranger's DM.
Steam Guard mobile authenticator ON. Trade-hold reduces stolen items.
Wallet balance kept small. No saved credit card if you can avoid it.

The one habit worth more than every setting above

Pause for thirty seconds and call the real person on the number you already have — before you send any money, any OTP, any code, any password, ever.
